PERCISION. DISCIPLINE. MOVEMENT.

The Northwest Savate Association is dedicated to the study, practice, and preservation of Savate (Boxe Française) and its related disciplines.

Rooted in a rich historical tradition, Savate is both a cultural and technical art—one that continues to evolve through disciplined practice and thoughtful instruction.

Training emphasizes technical precision, footwork, and distance management, developing skill through control, timing, and efficiency rather than brute force.

Classes are structured to support both new and experienced practitioners, providing a clear foundation while encouraging deeper exploration of the art’s principles and applications.

With a focus on progression and attention to detail, students develop not only technique, but a broader understanding of the systems, history, and ideas that shape the practice.

Based in the Greater Seattle area, NWSA offers a rare opportunity to study Savate as a complete and evolving system—while contributing to the continued preservation and transmission of the art in the Pacific Northwest.

“You aim to hit without being hit back, as the French say.”

What We Offer

Savate
(Boxe Française)

A technical striking art built on precision, timing, and intelligent movement.

Training emphasizes control, efficiency, and the ability to strike with accuracy while maintaining distance and balance.

LA Canne
(CANNE DE COMBAT)

A traditional French weapon art using a lightweight cane, focused on speed, coordination, and fluid striking patterns.

Practice develops timing, range, and adaptability through structured partner work.

TechNIQUE &
MOVEMENT

Central to training is the development of footwork, positioning, and distance management.

Students learn not just how to execute techniques, but how to apply them with clarity, control, and purpose.

HISTORY
& LINEAGE

NWSA is committed to preserving and transmitting the traditions of Savate through direct lineage and continued study.

Training is informed by the teachings of Salem Assli and Nicolas Saignac, connecting modern practice to the broader history and evolution of the art.
